11 years ago, Dom (Van Diesel) and Brian (Paul Walker) embarked on a massive mission, stealing the ill-gotten wealth of the infamous drug lord, Hernán Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida). The mission was a success, but it cost Hernán his life. His son, Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), is now back for revenge.
Unaware that his life is in danger, Dom is happily tending to his small family, consisting of Little B (Leo Abelo Perry) and his wife, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). They live a content life and still enjoy gatherings with their crew members, Han (Sung Kang), Tej (Ludacris), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel).
One night, after a BBQ party where they discussed a new mission in Rome requested by the agency, Dom and Letty's arch-nemesis, Cipher (Charlize Theron), appears at Dom's residence, injured. She informs them that Dante has taken over all of her operatives and is targeting Dom and his family.
As dawn breaks, the police and agency officials arrive at Dom's house. They apprehend Cipher and call for Dom's team to assemble. This leaves Dom and Letty puzzled because Roman and the others have already left for Rome to carry out the mission assigned by the agency.
