This film is set in Finland during the year 1944, right before the end of World War II. It tells the story of a former soldier named Aatami Korpi who struggles to avoid the conflicts of war. Aatami leads a lonely life without family, with a dark past background.
Yearning for a peaceful and comfortable life in his old age, Aatami sets a goal to search for a treasure of gold. The beginning of all tensions starts when Aatami discovers a sizable stash of pure gold deep in the Lapland forest. The gold becomes the key for Aatami to enjoy his future in peace. Despite having to endure a difficult journey of 900 km on horseback to the city to sell the gold, Aatami never expected to be confronted by Nazi forces led by a cruel SS officer.
They are determined to seize all of Aatami's treasure, but Aatami stands his ground and defends the gold by any means necessary.
