But all that changed when he realized Maisie Brumble (Zaris-Angle Hator) was on his ship and became an unexpected ally.
It all started hundreds of years ago, sea monsters emerged and brought havoc to mankind. This made the sailors explore the outside with their ships to hunt wild animals across the seas.
Among the sailors, one of the most famous was the crew of The Inevitable, led by the legendary Captain Crow (Jared Harris), his first mate Sarah Sharpe (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), and his adopted son Jacob Holland. They were financially supported by the King and Queen (Doon Makichan).
After nearly being killed while hunting, Crow told Jacob that he would make him captain once they killed the beast known as Red Bluster who took his eye.
The crew returned to Three Bridges to collect the payment for their last catch. But instead they got the news that they would be replaced by The Imperator led by Admiral Hornagold (Dan Stevens) Jacob proposed that his crew be given one more chance to kill Red Bluster. If successful, they could continue hunting animals.
