The Unholy begins with Alice (Cricket Brown), a deaf teenager who suddenly received healing after having an encounter with the Virgin Mary. Alice can now not only speak like normal people, but she can also perform miracles.
This makes many people, especially the sick, flock to Alice to get healed. The Catholic Church even sent Monsignor Delgarde to investigate it. The investigation was assisted by Bishop Gyles.
Not only that, Gerry Fenn (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a journalist who had seen Alice up close, was also interested and managed to get an exclusive interview.
Before the interview, Alice made sure that the results had to be seen by more people because the Virgin Mary wanted it.
In the interview, she said people believe because they see. She said that to respond to people who did not believe in the miracles she did.
